According to the latest Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) Agency Worker Regulations (AWR) Monitor, the demand for temporary positions is still strong, a positive sign for contract IT recruitment.
The REC's update shows that there is still a strong challenge for agencies and clients in many sectors to meet the new demands but the need for flexible staffing remains strong.
According to the confederation, the intentions for future hiring are encouraging. Over the next 12 months, 87 per cent of employers stated that they are looking to grow or maintain temporary staff levels.
Tom Hadley, the REC’s director of policy and professional services, said: "It is now over 100 days since the AWR came into force. Despite the slight dip in the number of placements highlighted in last month's Report on Jobs, overall demand remains strong."
Full equal treatment measures for agency workers kicked in over the Christmas period following a honeymoon period.
