Despite plenty of work being done by those with testing jobs at the BBC, the corporation has revealed that it suffered a major server outage last month.
According to Broadcast Magazine, the outage occurred on Friday 20th January and lasted over two days. It took place at its Salford MediaCity premises with the BBC yet to reveal just what caused the problem.
However, the outage did affect the Harmonic MediaGrid as well as the Film Partners MXF Server systems, which are used by the BBC in post production. However, according to Mark Harrison, BBC North controller of production, the problem wasn't caused by a lack of testing.
Mr Harrison said: "The problem was diagnosed and the system was up and running by the following Monday morning, but it was not running as smoothly as it should have been, so we took everybody off the shared storage to investigate further."
Film Partners did not wish to comment on whether its product played any part in the issue.
